Your parrot in the shower?

on

I am increasingly being asked why the feathers do not shine and look frayed quickly, even right after molting.
It often turns out that the bird has been in the shower as well. In itself, that is not the problem,
but the blow-drying does.
Birds have a uropygial gland near their tail that they use to keep their feathers in good condition.
A bird with good feather condition does not even get wet on the cover feathers.
The water rolls off the feathers like little pearls.
By blow-drying, we remove the essential insulation of the bird, because the protective layer is damaged.
